Many of us High school students understand stress. Its exciting, frightening, maddening, and yet it is what fuels us. I finally had the time to just sit around and do nothing today. I watched sports center for 3 hours, then slept for 2. I woke up, and realized something. It was no fun at all.
We need stress. Although we complain about it constantly, we need it. Its our human nature to complain about everything. Ever leave a restaurant and have everyone in the car talk about how GREAT and WONDERFUL it was. Chances are that someone had to add a downer remark. Oh i was too close to a window. Anyways, thats our human nature. So I realized I Enjoy stress.
The stress of school, of sports, or friends, of everything. School makes us smart, gets us ready for the business world. Sports help us relieve tension, but I am stressed that my ankle isn't ready for the Tournament this friday. And Friends, what am i doing tonight? Its a pretty frequent question on the weekends, and again it stresses us out. Sure we get sick from time to time, but that is our body's way of saying OK slow down for real right now. For the brief times we get sick, our body needs us to stop, but right afterwards, the stress kicks back in.
So why is stress so bad? Well too much is not good for us. How do you know when too much is in fact too much? Kind of a dumb question, but think about it.
So then how do you combat that?
No idea. I would be making a lot of money by selling books and being a psychiatrist.
